To remove/untie Abhaya Sutra, you can either untie the Abhaya Sutra or burn it open. The Abhaya Sutra should never be cut.
You can dispose of the sutra in one of the following ways:
- Tie it on the branch of a flowering or fruit bearing tree.
- Bury it under a tree or plant, where the soil is wet.
- Burn it and smear the ashes from your vishuddhi chakra (pit of the throat) down to the anahata chakra (just below the sternum/solar plexus).
